Experience Little Compton

With hundreds of acres of protected agricultural land, this lovely town has assured that its acres of meadows, cornfields, coastal ponds and woodland will be there for generations to come. The Commons, near the tiny village center is Rhode Island's only town common. Near it find galleries, local artisan craft shops, cafes and antique stores and roads that are lightly traveled.

Little Compton, in the heart of New England wine country is also home to Sakonnet Vineyards, a popular Rhode Island winery. For your sweet tooth, stop by the Sakonnet River Pie shop, then work off the calories as you explore more than 400 acres of open space in the Simmons Mill Pond.

Enjoy a sun-splashed afternoon at gorgeous Goosewing Beach, or kayak the winding Sakonnet River. Rich with history, Little Compton boasts the Wilbor House Museum and the private Stone House Club and supports an active historical society, which aims to restore and preserve the extensive cultural heritage of this tiny community by the sea.
